As is the way years later I have discovered the out takes from the day I got beguiled into this Italian Col Kurtz’s renegade encampment – Dario Pegoretti’s workshop in Caldonazzo. Links to my original published feature and my tribute to his passing that sadly I heard of whilst in my own year long hospitalisation after a near fatal RTA in 2018, are posted below.
Here he, his partner in craftsmanship and facial gestures Pietro Pietricola and the dog Jack make a re-appearance together from my previously unseen archive.
And so in no particular order or with the narrative you can follow in the feature linked below, here are some previously unseen out takes from my day in that matrix at the base of the Dolomites.
You can read my original published feature here:
And Here was a small tribute I made to the master when I heard he had sadly passed:
But here are the out takes…
Dario was a master craftsman, and artist and a fascinating person to eat an unremarkable lunch with. I barely knew him but we shared a birthday, a record collection and taste in Birkenstocks. RIP Dario.
